The Jimi Hendrix Experience - May This Be Love
“…Some people say
Daydreaming’s for all the (heh)
Lazy minded fools, with nothin’ else to doSo let them laugh, laugh at me
So just as long as I have you
To see me through
I have nothing to lose
’Long as I have youWaterfall
Don’t ever change your ways
Fall with me for a million days
Oh, my waterfall”

The Jimi Hendrix Experience - “Little Wing”
Earlier tonight, before I started to head home, I was listening to some more Hendrix, and then moved onto Stevie Ray Vaughan, who did a stunning instrumental version of this that was, sadly, released after his 1990 death.
This version comes from the mammoth box set The Jimi Hendrix Experience, which boasts four discs of unreleased or hard-to-find tracks, including this one. This was originally released on the (then) out-of-print Hendrix In The West. And I’m partially posting it because I noticed a request from goldengraham72 looking for specifically this version.
So, here it is. To clarify: this was recorded on Feb. 24, 1969, at the Royal Albert Hall in London, not in San Diego on May 24, 1969 or Berkley, May 30, 1970, like the rest of In The West.
I just saw this! - Thank you so much for posting it!
The reason I thought it was from San Diego is because that’s where the back cover of my copy of In The West said it was from… I’m guessing that was an error when it was first put together (which is probably why they ended up switching the performances for the CD reissue a few years ago).
No matter where it’s from, it’s an outstanding performance!

The Jimi Hendrix Experience - Little Wing [Live]
So, upon further investigation, it seems that this version is NOT the same one from my vinyl version of Hendrix In The West - the version that I talked about on my copy is from the San Diego Sports Arena, while this one’s from Winterland.
It’s still a great song, and about as close as I can get right now to the one I wanted to post. (If anyone out there has a copy of the *original* album version, please let me know, or better yet post it for me!)

I ended up loving that live Hendrix album that I posted about a couple of weeks ago so much that I just *had* to buy another live Hendrix album on vinyl earlier today, Hendrix In The West (1971).
There is an amazing version of “Little Wing” on here that has to be one of the most beautiful things I’ve ever heard on vinyl. - I’m not sure if the CD version, or an mp3 post will do it justice… I’m currently trying to track down a link to post it, but I think I might be stuck having to link it from the Spotify version of it (which seems to have a bit of a different line-up of songs than my vinyl version of the album).

The Jimi Hendrix Experience - Like A Rolling Stone [Live at the Monterey Pop Festival, June 1967]
Just to show that not all of my vinyl purchases today were silly, I also bought Otis Redding & the Jimi Hendrix Experience - Historic Performances Recorded At The Monterey International Pop Festival earlier today… this was another album that I really wanted to pickup last weekend when I first saw it, but was trying to stick to my own self-imposed weekend-off from purchases at the time.
I was listening to this album for a while earlier this evening, it’s such a great live album! - I was hoping to post something from both sides tonight, but could only find a link to this track from the Hendrix side. This is an amazing cover of Dylan’s “Like A Rolling Stone”.
