The last time I wore a costume for Halloween…

Throwback Thursday:

Since I’ll be wearing a Halloween costume for the first time in *22* years this coming weekend, I figured I should probably reblog *this* post, from last October (since many of you were not following me back then)… And I hope you all enjoy seeing me in tights! ;)

goldengraham72:

… Halloween *1989*!  This was me (with a cardboard Michael Keaton from our Video Center), two weeks before I turned 17… this was the year that Tim Burton’s first Batman movie came out, and at the grocery store I worked at a bunch of us decided to dress-up for Halloween as character’s from the Batman-universe.

Yes, this is the *only* time you will ever see me in tights!!!  :P

The greatest part of that day was that myself and “Batman” barely had to do any work that day, because all the kids in the store kept wanting to have their pictures taken with the “Dynamic Duo”!

(Of course, I’m now realizing that most of those ‘kids’ are now probably in their late-20’s by now! *Ugh!*  Damn, that makes me feel old!)

“Holy Camera-hogs!  Stop mugging for the camera, and help me, Batman!!!”

Throwback Thursday #2: Since you folks seemed to enjoy the Senior Yearbook photo I posted earlier today, here are a few more pics from various stages of my teenage years. (I think they’ve all been previously posted.)

Pic #1: January 1986 - Me, as a 13 year-old Best Man at my brother’s 1st wedding.  He was only 17 (a few months short of 18) at the time… It was one of those “Shotgun Weddings”, as my 1st nephew was born just 3 months later!

Pic #2: September 1988 - My Junior year photo.  This may be the best-looking picture that’s ever been taken of me! (…And I must say that not many people could rock the ‘peach’ shirt the way I did that day! :P)

Pic #3: May 1989 - My Junior Prom… And my 1st time ever wearing a Tuxedo. (The *official* prom photo was posted previously here.)  This prom also marked the beginning of my 1st year-long relationship, with my “first love”.

Pic #4: November 14th, 1990 - My 18th Birthday! This was the passport photo I had to get to be able to get my 1st photo-ID. (As you may guess by the photo, I had been seriously partying the night before!)

Throwback Thursday: I’ve posted this one a few times before, but it’s been awhile, and I know I’ve had a bunch of newer followers since the last time it ran… Here’s my senior photo, taken in Oct. 1989!

The hair stayed long for a few more years after that, mostly because my girlfriends at that time absolutely *refused* to let me get it cut… For some reason they seemed to like playing with my curls.

[Please also notice: from the Rodney Dangerfield School of “No Respect”: The idiots who put together our Senior Yearbook actually managed to misspell my last name in it! - Over 20 years later, and I’m still pissed at those fuckers! ]

“…I tell ya, I get no respect! No respect at all!”

For today’s ‘Abs’ meme: Here’s two pics of mine (or lack there-of), taken *22 years* apart!

I’ve never really had ‘abs’ in my life. - My weight has always fluctuated wildly over my life.  Growing up, I was a very “chubby” kid until about the time I started High School  (I was picked-on a lot for it in 7th & 8th grade).

In this first photo (taken in March of 1989), I was 16 years-old, just a few years after losing most of my chubbiness.

Now I know it may look like I have some Abs, I assure you that it’s simply an “optical-illusion” from the way I was standing/streching… Plus, it was from one of my earliest “Drunken Adventures” of my teen years.

[I would also like to mention how “far ahead of my time” I was, seeing that this was more than a decade before taking “mirror-pics” was a ‘thing’!]

And now, 22 years later… (at age 38)

This was taken & previously posted this past June, originally for a Tumblr “Bellybutton” meme. (…I swear, the things you people make me do!)

Now that I’m getting close to age 39 (one month from tomorrow!), I’m fairly certain that I’ll never have a “six-pack”, and that’s okay.  I’m mostly healthy, and happy.  As you can see from the 1st-photo meme post earlier, I’ve actually lost some weight over the past year.  - I walk a few miles every single day, I’m eating healthier than I used to, and most-importantly I’m happy with how I look now.

Plus, I know one more important thing about myself…

Throwback Thursday - Prom Pictures edition

Here I am at both my Junior, and Senior Proms (June 1989 & June 1990).  As you can see, I went to both of my proms with the same girl, my “first love” Carolyn (who I wrote about back in November, after running into her for the first time in a decade).  We had just started dating about a month before my Junior Prom, and broke up three weeks after my Senior Prom.

Strange Coincidence/Fact: While Carolyn went to a different high school than I did, the man she ended up marrying had the locker next to me in my Junior year (when I started dating her), but didn’t end up meeting her until many years down the road.  I ended up attending their wedding in 1997, and they now have a wonderful family of four children (-the first three were triplet-boys!)

Throwback Thursday: May 1996
Our year-end awards banquet for my college newspaper, The Campus Lantern. (I’m the one circled.) - This day also marked the end of my two-year reign as Editor-in-Chief of the newspaper.
A year earlier, I had started the tradition of having the banquet at Chuck’s Margaritas because our school was a “dry campus”, so holding events in their halls could really suck (plus, Chuck’s made some kick-ass frozen drinks).  I was very happy to hear that my tradition lasted for many years to come.
My newspaper staff and I were all pretty buzzed by this point in the night, but the real reason I was smiling so big was because after three years of doing multiple overnights every week producing the newspaper (I was also Sports Editor for a year before I moved into the Editor-in-Chief job), I was finally “free” to get some damn rest!
