The Rolling Stones - Memory Motel

“…You’re just a memory,
Of a love that used to be
You’re just a memory,
Of a love that used to mean so much to me…”

The Rolling Stones - Waiting On A Friend

One last song from Tattoo You for Vinyl Sunday… Time for me to stop waiting, and head to bed for the night.

Goodnight Tumblrs… xoxo

The Rolling Stones - Little T&A

To go along with my Vinyl Sunday post… Probably one of my favorite RS songs with Keith singing lead.

Of course, this one always stood out to the then nine-year-old me because it was one of the first songs I can remember hearing as a kid that used “naughty” words. (Yes, at that time -in 1981- hearing the words “Bitch” “Tits” & “Ass” in a song seemed shocking, and made my nine-year-old self giggle quite a bit!)

Vinyl Sunday [Part 2]: One more album that I didn’t get to write about last week, the Rolling Stones’ Tattoo You (1981).
I remember my older brother having this record in his collection when we were kids in the early 80’s.  When I got this one in, I was happily surprised to see that not only was the record itself still in great condition, but also the original & bizarre “high-heeled hoof” record sleeve (which I can clearly remember freaking me out when I was 8 or 9 nine years-old) was still practically in mint condition, and immediately brought back the memories of it from over 30 years ago!

The Rolling Stones - Shattered

“…Pride and joy and greed and sex
That’s what makes our town the best
Pride and joy and dirty dreams, and still surviving on the streets
And look at me, I’m in tatters, yeah
I’ve been battered, what does it matter
Does it matter, uh-huh
Does it matter, uh-huh, I’m a shattered…

Don’t you know the crime rate’s going up, up, up, up, up
To live in this town you must be tough, tough, tough, tough, tough!
We got rats on the west side
Bed bugs uptown
What a mess this town’s in tatters I’ve been shattered
My brain’s been battered, splattered all over Manhattan…”

In preparation for SNARK, I’ve been trying to think of some classic songs about New York City to make a playlist of, and this one’s been stuck in my head for the past few days.

When I was a kid, and just starting to develop my music-tastes, *this* was the first Stones’ song that completely ‘hooked’ me, and made me start exploring their music more… And I’ve been a huge fan ever since!

The Rolling Stones - Moonlight Mile

“When the wind blows, and the rain feels cold
With a head full of snow
With a head full of snow
In the window there’s a face you know
Don’t the nights pass slow
Don’t the nights pass slow

The sound of strangers sending nothing to my mind
Just another mad mad day on the road
I am just living to be dying by your side
But I’m just about a moonlight mile on down the road…”
