Having a relaxing Saturday so far, and lord knows that I’ve really needed a break to recharge. So far today I’ve: Slept in Went to a late breakfast, initially by myself, but then ran into an old college friend who was also dining by herself, so we shared a table and caught up for a bit… It was a fun, and completely unexpected time. Then she had to go to work, so I went back off by myself and went for a nice picture-taking walk. It was a beautiful day out today, so I took some nice shots from the local footbridge (the same one I took some shots from last Winter.) I might post some of the pics, after I get a chance to check out how they came out on my laptop. Next, my new Saturday tradition of vinyl shopping at my local record store… I ended up buying 8 albums, after guilting myself into putting a few back. I’ve bought way too many records lately, and haven’t had a chance to post many of them for Vinyl Sunday. (I have about 3 or 4 unfinished old Vinyl posts in my Drafts… Someday I might actually post them!) And finally, as seen in the photo above, my now weekly stop to our new local Gourmet Cupcake shop to try out a new flavor… Because I had already tried all the ‘regular’ cupcakes they were featuring today, I decided to try one of their gluten-free varieties, a mix of White & Dark Chocolate, and this was so good that I wouldn’t have even known it was gluten-free if they hadn’t told me beforehand! And now I’m going to try to post this without out editing, or saving it to Drafts first, because I’m pretty sure my obsession with double-checking & second guessing my posts has been what’s been causing my recent “Posting/Writer’s Block”… So if there are any screw-ups in this post, I’m just going to try to let them go for now “as-is”.

GPOYW - I haven’t really been smiling in most of my pictures lately, so I wanted to post one with a genuine smile. Because work, and life, has been leaving my exhausted & grumpy most of the time lately, I knew it would be a longshot for me to take a smiling photo of myself today (Wednesdays are usually my absolute craziest day of the week at work, and today was no exception)- SO, I made sure to take *this* photo over this past weekend, while I was actually in a happy mood after a fun Mother’s Day party with my family, followed by listening to some great new records I picked up recently. I hate that I haven’t had as much time lately to interact here, and I’m sorry for getting so behind on returning messages… I fear it’s going to get worse for awhile before it gets any better.  I have so many things I’d like to write about in my head, but never seem to have enough time to sort them out… Hopefully, I won’t forget them all once things slow down and get back to normal, and I actually have some free time again.

GPOYW - “I’m getting really f’n sick of this place” edition. I’m talking about work of course, not Tumblr… Just when it looked like some of the positions I was covering for were beginning to get filled, and I might get to actually take some of the 200+ hours of vacation time I have stored-up, they had to go and fire the office manager at our largest program… And just guess *who* had to pickup their workload, on top of all the other jobs I was already doing! (Ugh!) Sorry I haven’t had much Tumblr-time lately (and when I have had a few minutes, I haven’t been able to actually get myself to write anything)… I probably should’ve held up something with today’s date on it, so you could use this as a “proof of life” photo as well!

I almost forgot that I had another pic to post for today, for the B&W April “photo of the day” meme (which I haven’t really been following this month, but I’m always happy to throw in a B&W pic). Also, I mentioned earlier in the day how I wasn’t feeling like having a real smile today, but one of *you* managed to give me one when I checked my mail today and found an amazing “Thank You” card with a beautifully sweet message written inside! - It truly helped to cheer me up on a day when I truly needed it!

I didn’t realize until very late last night that I never got around to posting a GPOYW photo yesterday …I’m guessing it probably had something to do with the fact that I didn’t post anything at-all yesterday! I don’t necessarily like this pic of my face, but I do like how all the colors came out in the background. Any hint of a smile you see on me today has probably been faked because I’m in a bit of a sad mood because my dear friend Carissa is flying back to Arizona today… This has been one of the best visits we’ve had together since she first moved away six years ago; and also one of the most difficult ‘goodbyes’ we’ve had since then… I’m extremely sad to see her leave.

Yes, I’m still here… Just relaxing today, listening to some of my purchases from yesterday’s Record Store Day. At some point later I hope to have time to write about most of my finds. I did pretty good: I bought two “Record Store Day Exclusive” 7”-singles, plus eight more albums including some classics that I’ve been wanting to find for awhile. Yesterday was crazy, I was busy non-stop from early in the morning, until after midnight… I barely even had time to stop-by Tumblr a few times for some “drive-by heartings”, before it was onto to the next thing: between Record Store Day, then hanging with one old friend in the afternoon; then later hanging out with Carissa again to see “American Reunion”, followed by some drinks & a quick bite to eat… My Saturday was jam-packed! But it was lots & lots of FUN! (…And because I’m an ‘old-fart’ now, I’m absolutely exhausted today!)

GPOYW  Sorry I haven’t had much to say lately, so here’s a ‘Gratuitous’ shot of my face - as we do on Wednesdays… Life has been kicking my ass around lately: Work has been crazy, I’ve been covering for multiple people for so many weeks now that I’m lucky if I even know my own name anymore. - I’ve been so damn exhausted by the time I get home (usually an hour or two late) that it’s a struggle just to catch up on my dash for a few minutes without falling asleep.  As far as my personal life goes… well, I’m not quite sure what the hell is going on there. It’s filled with feelings of confusion, abandonment, frustration… I feel like I’ve been seeking answers from someone for so long now that I can’t even remember the questions anymore.  To end this on a more positive note: Things are still going well here with my nephew. He’s been keeping his head on straight, and it’s been very heartwarming to see him bond with his son, and how truly happy he is to finally be able to participate in his son’s life. He’s been doing everything right, and has an amazingly positive attitude about his time in prison and restarting his life afterwards… It’s been refreshing to see, and I’m so thankful that I’ve been able to help him during this transition, and that we’ve had this new chance to bond more than we ever had before. I didn’t really plan to write this much with my photo, but I’m glad that I did. - Thank you for reading, and thanks for all messages & support that so many of you have given me recently… It has truly meant a lot to me.
