Because I haven’t been following you for so very long, I apologize if this has been answered before: How do you choose what you put into each Wednesday Shuffle? Do you have a theme? Did these songs make you think of Leap Day? :)
Nope, nothing is chosen ahead of time… I just let my mp3 player pick randomly on ’Shuffle’ mode through my collection [or in this case, a mostly “work-safe” playlist of about 4,700 songs.]
Last night, when I posted my last batch of new records for Vinyl Sunday, I didn’t have time to do the write-up for this album that it truly deserved.
I’ve owned this album in multiple formats, and in fact it was the very first album I can remember buying with my *own* money on cassette back when I was eleven years-old. - It’s kind of funny that it took me another 28 years to finally own it on vinyl!
Dude, wasn’t hearing the Colour and the Shape on vinyl a moment for you? I got goosebumps.
Yes, it definitely was… In fact, I’m pretty sure I played Side 3 (with “February Stars” & “Everlong”) at least three or four times in a row before I could finally bring myself to flip it over to the next side.
I’ve also had a very similar experience with Siamese Dream (and oddly, also with Side 3 on *that* album - “Geek U.S.A”, “Mayonaise” & “Spaceboy”)… I can’t even explain how truly amazing both albums sound on vinyl!
And thank you again for introducing me to Discogs! - My OCD loved spending many nights adding my entire collection on there (and checking through every edition to make sure I had them linked to the proper releases!)
For my next song for tracingben's birthday, I've decided to combine his love of The Doors with his love of cover songs… So here is The Cult covering “Wild Child”, from The Doors' tribute album, Stoned Immaculate: The Music of The Doors.
Tumblr: only place where u catch people talking about u with words more gracious than u deserve. If I was blushing any harder, Russia would b able 2 see me. From its house. Thank u, Rob, 4 our sidewalk moment + 4 the record, I HEART ALL OF U SO HARD.
I just had to post this because it was not only meant for me, but it was also for so many of you who left such sweet comments on the post. (I’m also tagging those of you who commented, to make sure you see it!)
Thank you, Tre, for this wonderful reply, and especially for our ‘sidewalk moment’ that inspired my post.
